The retailers\u2019 parent company, TJX Companies, says the measure is to keep both customers and employees safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBody cameras are just one of the many ways that we work to support a safe store environment,\u201d a company spokesperson said in a statement to Boston 25 News. \u201cThis includes a variety of policies, trainings, and procedures. We hope that these body cameras will help us de-escalate incidents, deter crime, and demonstrate to our associates and customers that we take safety in our stores seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only trained employees would wear the cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likeanimalslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/shutterstock_751338259-768x512-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15325\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the move may be seen as controversial, Carol Spieckerman, a retail consultant, who spoke with the Boston Globe, said it makes sense for retailers like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods to use body cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA big part of their model is this unpredictable, treasure-hunt environment where you never know what\u2019s going to be there tomorrow; that\u2019s what drives more frequent trips, and it\u2019s a really successful model,\u201d she said. \u201cBut it also means that it\u2019s sometimes more difficult to keep track of inventory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likeanimalslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/shutterstock_1664083486-768x512-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15326\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While it\u2019s not yet known when the cameras will be turned on, TJX said the company will share video footage only when requested by law enforcement or in response to a subpeona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do you think about this new safety measure?
